Eat Pretty, Eat Clean

Honestly, for the past few weeks I've been feeling ugly. Not ugly- different. I've been feeling very very unhealthy and I started to gain weight. I always used to eat whatever I wanted and get away with it. But I suppose, as you grow up it changes. I must say, I'm sick of feeling chubby and bloated after every meal. I'm sick of my hair not growing properly and having zits all around my face. That's why, with the power given to me by all clean eating blogs, I am continuing to eat clean. This summer I started reading Jolene Hart's book "Eat Pretty" and while I was in the UK, I actually did what the book offered. The main idea of the book is:

whatever you eat, you become

This means that the greasy hamburger you ate last night will be the zit on your face tomorrow morning. I'm not saying that I will never eat junk food again but I won't eat it excessively. I'm not that much of a junk food freak anyways but I'm a total foodie. I think of food day and night and I love exploring and savouring new kinds of food. So that's why, in order to do this #cleaneating thing properly, I need to fulfil my cravings.

PS: I just baked some cinnamon goodness (clean muffins) and I will post the recipe ^^

I don't know if anyone reads but if you do, thank you and take care!

Random 2 am story: A Bad Year For Wine

A Bad Year For Wine

As the ordinary commotion of that very pub in London echoed in his ears, he suddenly realized that he was too tired for this. He wiped the last scotch glass and looked at all the chubby businessmen gulping their Martinis and puffing their huge cigarettes. His eyes passed on the pretty ladies sitting right next to them. They were wearing expensive clothing that lacked a proper fashion sense, which obviously was a sign that they did not actually belong there. He planned his retour in his head. Since the Covent Garden station was still closed and there wasn’t much cash left in his good ole’ Oyster, he thought he’d walk. Only a couple of hours, he told himself, I will be sitting in my sofa away from all this tacky contemporary drama. Oh only if those hours passed quicker! He could hear some footsteps accompanied by the tricky bicycle taxi drivers voice, trying to fool three girls by wanting fifty pounds for a seven pound drive outside when every thought he ever had, every sound he ever heard and every vision he’s ever seen vanished for an instant as he heard the most angelic voice say the words that at least ninety other customers had said to him earlier that night: “Hello.” He forced his body to defreeze and put his tired eyes on her. She had a bewildered smile and her eyebrows were raised, as if she was solving a tricky math question. The little black feather hat on her head she looked as if she just fled a Royal Wedding. Her eyes wandered around the chalkboard menu on the wall as he said with a hesitant voice: “H-Hello, what will it be?” She looked into his eyes and ordered a nice glass of Chardonnay 1985. As he was pouring the wine, she nervously put her fingers dressed up in a black lacey glove up and down the counter. He felt as if his heart could jump right this instant out of his body and run home. He knew, that after this incident his life would never be the same. She gave out a little “Merci.”, after he served his wine. He thought he bothered her enough and returned to wiping glasses. What if he asked? What could possibly happen from only asking? He thought. We could go to the movies or have dinner or just walk by the Thames and talk by the park! We could feed the birds and I’d make a couple of bad jokes, we could take the tube to Notting Hill together and I’d act out the movie and accidentally burn my hand! She’d laugh because she would think I’m funny and oh- what I would give for her to let me love her! I would love her with a love that would be more than love that the seraphs of heaven would get jealous, he thought. He was deeply buried in his thoughts that he couldn’t distinguish the sound of those little heals neatly getting away. When he put his head up, instead of the heavenly face and the glass of wine he was expecting, he just saw one lacey black glove. He quickly took it and rushed to the street. But even in this quite hour of the night, the street was quiescent and empty. He stayed there for what his boss defined as “a bare customers time”. When he got back in, he started to look at the glove. He suddenly noticed an address sewed to the inside of it: 24 Lancaster Road.

He quickly left, without even taking his coat. His heart was beating so fast. He started running towards the direction. After a couple of tourist-like direction demands and five rain showers he found himself in a quartier which had to be right next to Lancaster Road. He saw an old lady walking down the street and approached her. When he asked her the way to building number 24, her eyes widened: “But my dear boy, that building burnt down in 1985!” She didn’t give any details but over his now very blurry mind, he could still hear her mumbling:”Oh what a bad year was it for wine, the pre-harvest stress went on for ages!”

I only want what I can't have

Why do we only want what we can't have? I believe that this is my ironically important problem. If I lay my eyes on something I like, I literally can't stop thinking about it until I get it. But that exact moment I get it, I don't want it anymore. The spark, the thrill and the mystery suddenly goes away. It suddenly clicks and I get bored of that same thing that I've been craving for for weeks. What is that secret ingredient to keep the thing as interesting and as tempting as the first day? I haven't found an answer yet, but if I don't: I'll end up dead with 37 cats.

Prompt: "As the bird whose owner just died"

I try to reach him,
But I know it's too late,
Pretending to be trapped,
Was this the only way;

The cage is my guard,
My ribs the enemy,
My only friend in life,
Lying dead so close to me.

He fed my soul,
I held my breath,
And mercilessly,
I brought him death,

Now I must fly,
For this poems over,
I am a little bird,
And I killed my owner.

Berger say what?

What actually is wrong, when you're not on the same page with a person, but you think you are? If two people look like they like each other, enjoy doing things together and get along really well together, how big is the problem, if one of them isn't just that into the other? I was just watching the sixth season of Sex and the City and what that Berger guy did seriously bugged me. He was the one saying sorry. He was the one bringing the flowers and he was the one apologising. But eventually it turns out, he was the one that just wasn't that into Carrie. But the thing is, this doesn't only happen in TV shows. You feel like you've clicked with a person, you share the same interests and seem really compatible but it just doesn't happen. I can't help but wonder, do those people shut themselves because it actually is perfect? One way or another, Carrie-ing the situation and waiting for that Big moment is the right thing to do, because a Berger ain't gonna make you look good forever!

That time of the year!

Its THIMUN again! Heels, scarves and fluffy sweaters are set, all I need to do is to jump on the plane this saturday so that it can take me to the oh so missed The Hague! Normally we were going to go to Australia these two weeks to enjoy the sun and be with the family, but I just couldn't let go of Holland. I couldn't take the feeling of knowing that my friends would be having fun in Ned Kelly's without me and even though I would be in a sunny beach in Australia, it would bug me a little. However, I'm very glad that I'm going to Holland for the third time. I don't know why but the past two times, I didn't bring a proper camera so all I have are Instagram photos. But this time I'm taking my Canon and DianaF+ with me in order to have clear and artsy (you can't help it with Diana though) pictures worth saving. This time we will go around Amsterdam and see what there is to see like actual tourists rather than THIMUN soldiers, (hungover and tired.) Our plan for Amsterdam is as follows:

1.Sex Museum
I know it doesn't sound that charming but it actually is. It's very interesting and funny. Plus, it takes like 10 minutes to go around so, not a very big deal.

2.Red Light District
Yup, this is the part where ugly (wo)men in disturbing lingerie tap on the windows of their small glass cabin, inviting men inside for a little party. It's not very pleasant but it's interesting. And since it's on our way, there's no point in taking another street.

3.Anne Frank House
After reading the "Diary of a Young Girl", I always had the feeling that I owed something to Anne. It was like she's a part of me. I know how bad she suffered and I want to make it up to her by visiting the museum. Plus, as I've recently read John Green's The Fault in our Stars (not his best book obviously but worth the time), I really want to see the place Hazel and August have their first kiss.

4.Hard Rock Cafe
I believe that in order for a person to fully tour the city, Hard Rock has to be visited. Also, as I have a friend that collects pins from HRC's all around the world, I don't think she'd let us walk past it. (Hello Deniz <3)

5.Bloemenmarkt
Leaving Holland without having seen a flower market would be a shame. (PS: I bought tulip seeds last year and they turned out fabulous, so I'm planning on doing the same thing again)

6.Vlaamaw Frites Huis (wtf??)
Holland=Fries. No need of another word.

7.DeBijenkorf
A girl gotta do her shopping too you know. Also the muffin counter on the first floor is ugh-mazing

Shopaholic or Christmas Lover?

Even in a country that doesn't celebrate it, christmas shopping is always fun! Today, I spent 2 whole hours running around the shopping mall in my oh-so-comfortable loafers and purse; looking for gifts. I returned home with exactly 13 bags, and trust me, they weren't so small. I'm not going to write what I got, knowing that people for whom I got gifts might be stalking me (gotcha). I don't know if it's because I'm a huge winter-lover or because I love fluffy sweaters, snow and the colour red! Either way, I'll never be the normal kind of foreigner that ignores the rest of the worlds traditions and holidays. I just can't resist the urge to sit down with reindeer printed socks and listen to soothing Christmas Hits such as "Let it snow", "Jingle-bell Rock" and of course, my ultimate favourite, "All I want for christmas is you"! But with all this, I just can't decide if it's normal or pretentious for someone to celebrate Christmas in a country that doesn't celebrate it. Even if I'm considered a wannabe, I shall not spend a winter without the coziness of a Christmas jumper or the creaminess of a Starbucks Christmas-special toffee nut latte.

PS: I have, as you might've already seen, decided to use this blog as a normal blog rather than just a "fashion" blog. But of course there will be fashion, it's inevitable!

Now, let's get to the topic. I don't know how, but I ended up in "http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/designerchristmasjumpers". This site is holding up an auction for nothing other than designer christmas sweaters! My fave 3 words combined. And they are not just sweaters, they're by british fashion designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Burberry or Alexander McQueen! So, you have to go on the site and make a bid on your favourite sweater. 84p of each entry goes to save the children too. The lowest unique bid wins! I just love the idea. Even though I'm not sure if it works outside the UK, I'm sure as hell trying to get the McQueen one!

Here are my favourites:

Until the next time,

Cheers,

M

Winter is coming!

Sitting in that same old couch with a pair of tight sweatpants, eating a high-cal candy bar and watching the same Keeping Up With the Kardashians episode for the 5th time ? That, my friend, is a sign that you should get up, go to the nearest gym and take your fave healthy food on a date. Because winter isn't the season to gain all the weight lost in summer. But the thing is, I still can go out with a jumper and not get cold. I wonder if it's just me or the seasons disappearing because of the global warming. But still, it was about time that I made a weight-calender. Enough with the weight talks. For me, winter is Starbucks' red paper cups, Gingerbread-men, snowflake-patterned clothes, warm and huge jumpers, fireplaces, watching the Harry Potter series for the 100th time, Doc Martens, colourful beanies etc.

I just had the time to ask myself what this post had to do with fashion, but eh, whatever! This is what I'm feeling.

STELLA MCCARTNEY RESORT 2014

Stella McCartney is one of my personal favourites and nope, not only because she is the daughter of Paul McCartney. My discovery of Stella was a few years ago when I was flipping through the pages of Vogue and suddenly saw those sparkling pair of shoes which were as heavenly as they had a halo over them. I then searched through the web and found out more about her. The moment I found out that she was the daughter of Paul McCartney, as I was in a Beatles-era kinda year, my level of respect and love for her became as uncountable as Bryan Boy's shoes! Today, as I was wondering around style dot com, I decided to go through Resort 2014 collections and as a mistake I clicked on Stella McCartney. What a lovely mistake that was! This collection of hers was created for "a woman with a snake tattoo" to wear. The snake patterns, the simplistic but somehow hipster dresses and the pins were most certainly not designed for an ordinary woman with a monotonous style to wear. I love the way she used the colour red which, for the woman with the tattoo, is representing fire but in such a way that it collides with love and passion with the aid of the thin lips and the hearts. Plus, even though I'm not a big fan of snake-skin-patterned clothes, the coats and the dresses of this collection were designed in such a simplistic way that it almost seems as the model herself is the snake. I must admit, I am in love with this collection. But who wouldn't be?

BRADSHAW BABE

With her over-the-knee skirts, Manolo Blahnik studs, crop tops, trench coats, long fluffy dresses, duffle bags, cosmopolitans, passion for shoes, amazing ability to analyse, adventures with the lovely Mr. Big and the stunning column; Carrie Bradshaw has always been and will always be my one and only idol. Not only she is fabulous, she is also really smart. I'd pretty much do anything to walk down the streets of New York with Carrie Bradshaw talking about Mr.Big or Aiden "Smoking Hot" Shaw with our fabulous outfits with Fendi purses and D&G shoes. Even though Miss Carrie Bradshaw isn't real, I still very strongly believe that she is one of the most stunning style icons of all times. Every time I watch an episode of Sex and the City, I find myself planning how my life would be if I were Carrie Bradshaw. And I really wonder if, a diva even without the character, the wonderful Sarah Jessica Parker ever wishes she was Carrie. The bad news is she never actually will be Carrie Bradshaw even though I personally would still be fan-girling if she wasn't Sarah and was Carrie. The good news is she's going to be teaming up with the Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus to work on a new collection of shoes, bags and trench coats. Sarah Jessica Parker said that in a silly way, she thought, Carrie Bradshaw would be proud. I, personally, am very eager to see if the actresses style is compatible with Carrie Bradshaw's. Because honestly, Manolo Blahnik or Dolce, New York City or Ohio, Mr.Big or Matthew Broderick and Carrie Bradshaw or Sarah Jessica Parker; it doesn't really matter because at the end of the day they're both fabulous. And I must say, if I were to have a secret-girl-crush; it would totally be on her!

ARMANI PRIVE FALL 2013 COUTURE

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." said Leonardo da Vinci. I believe that in our rapidly changing world, this wonderful quotation is always suitable to say. And this time it is suitable to associate the notion of simplicity with Giorgio Armani's Armani Privé 2013 Fall Couture collection which he personally likes to call "nude". The big jackets, humble bags and the skirts look as if they are a part of the models body. If any of these models were to be put on top of a hill, in the arms of mother nature, she would look more natural than the nature itself. This collection is so not the usual "look-at-me" glam, but surprisingly it does make people stare with big eyes, all approving the experiment of Giorgio Armani. I would like to say as I am staring at the collection with big eyes myself, I find in this collection elegance, old Hollywood, tranquility and of course, modesty. I think it's fabulous.

MILEY CYRUS BY TERRY RICHARDSON

Do you ever have that moment in life when you're sipping your green tea while reading Marie Claire and suddenly your eyes go through the well-chosen sparkling collage of words as you say to yourself: "I want to write like that too!" Just when I had a moment like that I remembered, "I have an abandoned, sad fashion blog!" After 10 painful minutes of choosing a new name for this blog, I decided to go with: "Green Tea & Vanity" but if you ask me why, I have absolutely no idea. I think it just came instinctively because I am a huge fan of green tea and what a surprise, Lady GaGa's Vanity is stuck in my head for days. Now if I may suggest, go get yourself a cup of tea and open your eyes because I am back in town and I'm not planning on leaving soon!

As a welcome back post I would like to introduce my favourite fashion photographer, secret-celebrity-crush & role model: Terry Richardson. He was born in New York in the summer of 65' as Terrence Richardson and discovered his passion, photography obviously, when he was in high school. This time his guest was Miley Cyrus and I must say, she is looking complete in front of his classic white wall. Just 2 years ago if I heard the name Miley Cyrus, my first reaction would be "Hannah Montana?" but nowadays with her short gorgeous blonde hair and not-so-humble style, she is so far away from being that teenage pop star with the goofy clothes. Honestly I had no idea that the hair and the attitude could change this beauty from a Disney star to an actual diva.

LOUIS VUITTON SPRING 2012

A brand new spring. A brand new collection. I just love the patterns and the flowers. And i also adored the fashion show. It was just amazing.
